Movie: "Great Raid"

"The Great Raid" tells the true story of the 6th Ranger Battalion, under the command of Lt. Col Henry Mucci (Benjamin Bratt), which undertakes a daring rescue mission against all odds.  Traveling 30 miles behind enemy lines, the 6th Rangers aim to liberate more than 500 American prisoners of war from the notorious Cabanatuan Japanese POW camp.  The movie is based on two books, "The Great Raid on Cabanatuan," by acclaimed military historian William B. Breuer and "Ghost Soldiers," by Hampton Sides. This 2005 Mirimax release is directed by John Dahl, the film also stars James Franco (Spider Man), Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love), Mark Consuelos and Connie Nielson (Gladiator).  This film is rated R.  There is no charge.

 From 12:30 pm until 5 pm on Saturday, golfers from around the world are invited to golf on the White Sands Golf Course for only $15 (this includes cart rental).

Bataan Historical Seminar
 2:30 pm and 4 pm
This is a historical seminar conducted by New Mexico State University (NMSU) that covers the deployment of the NM National Guard to the Philippines, the battle for the Philippines and the Fall of Bataan.  This seminar provides historical information of the Bataan Death March and the POW camps and the repatriation of Prisoner of War (POW) back to America.  There is no charge.

Pasta Buffet Dinner

 4:30 pm - 8 pm
This All-You-Can-Eat Pasta Buffet Dinner is open to all marchers, guests and event personnel.  Come by the Frontier Club and see the true meaning of esprit de corps.  The Pasta Buffet Dinner will run from 4:30 pm until 8 pm at the Frontier Club.  Cost is $10 per person.

A continental breakfast is provided for all Marcher’s in the 21st Annual Bataan Memorial Death March at NO CHARGE.  Marchers' are welcome to have breakfast beginning at 4:30 am prior to the Opening Ceremony and the Official Start of the Bataan Memorial Death March.

Opening Ceremony

We invite you to join us as we "Bataan Never Forgotten"  During the Opening Ceremony, we remember those who fell at Bataan and we honor the brave survivors through Reveille, invocation, remarks and a very moving roll call.

21st Annual Bataan Memorial Death March

Marchers Start in Order 
7:00 am

Marchers will begin in the following order:

1. Walter Reed and Brooke Army Medical Soldiers (Wounded Warriors)  2. Individual and Team Civilian Light and Heavy Categories, Modified March.  3. Military Individual and Team Light, ROTC, JROTC and National Guard Categories  4. Military Individual and Team Heavy, National Guard and ROTC Team Heavy

*It is suggested that those marchers in the heavy categories leave their backpacks and rucksacks off until 10 minutes prior to departure as they will be the last out.

Marcher’s lunch meal is included in their registration fee.  Additional a la carte items are available for purchase for spectators. In the event of high winds, meals will be served in the Frontier Club.

Recognition Ceremony
 3 pm
The Recognition Ceremony will honor the 20th Annual Bataan Memorial Death March participants and Bataan Veterans.   Awards may be picked up at the awards table located in back of the Frontier Club, beginning at 1100.

Post March Dinner - $10
 
5 pm - 8 pm
A post-March Dinner Buffet is open to all marchers, guests, and event personnel.  Come and put up your feet with us at the Frontier Club from 5 pm until 8 pm.  Thanks and we hope to see you next year!  Next Year’s March is scheduled for 27 March 2011
