The gym is closed starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 through 9 a.m. Monday, March 31 for no-cost billeting of Bataan Memorial Death March participants. Space in on a first-come, first-served basis.  Cots are available.

Movie: The Great Raid

The Great Raid tells the true story of the 6th Ranger Battalion, under the command of Lt. Col. Henry Mucci (Benjamin Bratt), which undertakes a daring rescue mission against all odds.  Traveling 30 miles behind enemy lines, the 6th Rangers aim to liberate more than 500 American prisoners of war from the notorious Cabanatuan Japanese POW camp.  The movie is based on two books, The Great Raid on Cabanatuan, by acclaimed military historian William B. Breuer and Ghost Soldiers, by Hampton Sides. This 2005 Miramax release is directed by John Dahl, the film also stars James Franco (Spider Man), Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love), Mark Consuelos and Connie Nielson (Gladiator).  This film is rated R.  There is no charge.

Bataan History Seminar

2:30 and 4 p.m.

This is a historical seminar conducted by New Mexico State University that covers the deployment of the New Mexico National Guard to the Philippines, the battle for the Philippines and the Fall of Bataan.  This seminar provides historical information about the Bataan Death March and the prisoner of war camps and the repatriation of prisoners of war back to America.  There is no charge.

Meet the Bataan POWs

3:30 - 5 p.m.

Health permitting, survivors of the Bataan Death March will be available to share their stories first-hand.

Pasta Buffet Dinner

4:30 - 8 p.m.

This all-you-can-eat pasta buffet dinner is open to all marchers, guests and event personnel.  Come by the Frontier Club and see the true meaning of esprit de corps. Cost is $10 per person.

Marchers'  Continental Breakfast

4:30 a.m.

A continental breakfast is provided for all Bataan Memorial Death March participants at NO CHARGE.  Marchers are welcome to have breakfast with us starting at 4:30 a.m. before the opening ceremony and the official start of the Bataan Memorial Death March.

Opening Ceremony

6:30 a.m.

We invite you to join us as we "Remember Bataan."  During the opening ceremony, we recall those who fell at Bataan and honor the brave survivors with Reveille, an invocation, remarks and a very moving roll call followed by an F-117 flyover by the Air Force's 49th Flyer Wingfrom nearby Holloman Air Force Base.

Marchers Start in Order

7 a.m.

Marchers will begin in the following order:

1. Walter Reed and Brooke Army Medical Center Soldiers  2. Individual Light Categories  3.Team Light Categories  4. Individual *Heavy Categories 5. Team *Heavy Categories  6. Honorary March Participants

*It is suggested that those marchers in the heavy categories leave their backpacks and rucksacks off until 10 minutes prior to departure as they will be the last out.

March participants meal is included in the registration fee. Additional a la carte items will be available for purchase.  All other patrons must purchase this meal. In the event of high winds, meals will be served inside the Frontier Club.

Medals are awarded to first and second place in each category of each division of the 26.2-mile course.  No awards are given for the 15.2-mile honorary course.
